  1.                             PixCat Picture Cataloger

  3.      Thank you  for selecting  PixCat, another  amazing product  from  MIDPA
  4.      Softworks.  PixCat is used for printing a catalog of all pictures in  a
  5.      NewsMaster(tm), PrintMaster(tm), or Print Shop(tm) graphics library.

  7.      To print the reference manual, you can "copy" it to your printer.   For
  8.      example, if it is on your "A" disk, you could print it by entering:

  10.                           copy a:pixcat.doc prn
  11.  
  12.      PixCat will run on IBM PCs,  ATs,  PS/2s and true compatibles.   PixCat 
  13.      requires at least 256K of memory  and  MS DOS or PC DOS version 2.00 or 
  14.      higher.  PixCat may run under other configurations but, those have  not 
  15.      yet been tested.

  17.      If you are not sure whether PixCat will run on your machine, try it and
  18.      see what happens.

  20.      Files that should be on your disk include:
  21.      
  22.      PIXCATPM.COM    PixCat  program for NewsMaster(tm) and  PrintMaster(TM)
  23.                      graphics libraries.
  24.      
  25.      PIXCATPS.COM    PixCat program for Print Shop (tm) graphics libraries.

  27.      PIXCAT.DOC      The PixCat Reference Manual. Refer to this for detailed
  28.                      reference.   The  PixCat  screens  are  generally  self
  29.                      documenting so you may not need to refer to this.
  30.      
  31.      PIXCAT.CFG      The   PixCat  configuration  file.    This  "remembers"
  32.                      configuration information including  screen colors  and
  33.                      printer type.   If  this file  is not  in your  default
  34.                      directory, PixCat  will  default  to  Black  and  White
  35.                      screens using  an  Epson  FX+ type  printer.   Once  in
  36.                      Pixcat, you can adjust  these parameters then create or
  37.                      update this file by using the "Save Configuration File"
  38.                      option on the main menu.

  40.      PIXCAT.CFP      PixCat printer configuration file.

  42.           *.CFP      (optional) Additional printer configuration files.

  48.      Ensure that your  default directory path  contains the "*.CFP"  file(s)
  49.      and, if it has already been created, the PIXCAT.CFG configuration file.

  51.      Enter "pixcatpm" or "pixcatps" at the  Dos Prompt to invoke PixCat  for
  52.      the appropriate  type of  graphics libraries.   This  will display  the
  53.      PixCat primary selection menu.

  55.      Also,  when configuring  PixCat  for  your printer,  please remember to 
  56.      specify whatever your printer "thinks it is".  For example, if you have 
  57.      an OKIDATA ML Printer with the IBM "Plug & Play" option, then configure
  58.      PixCat for an IBM Graphics Printer.   If  your  printer  is not  on the 
  59.      printer configuration list,  you might try the  IBM  or Epson settings; 
  60.      many printers emulate either the IBM or Epson printers.
